Alpha

Exploring faith? Try Alpha.

Alpha is a judgment-free gathering of people from all walks of life who share a meal together and explore the big issues of life and meaning and consider the basics of Christian faith.

Alpha meets weekly on Sunday nights, starting on Sep 20th, 2026.

Each week at Alpha, we gather at our Historic Church (405 E California St, Jacksonville) to enjoy dinner around a table with a few people, watch a short video, and then have free discussion. People are welcome to share their own thoughts and questions or not share anything at all. Attendance varies, but we typically have around 4-6 round tables each week. Alpha isn't a 'pressure cooker,' it is designed to be a stress-free, friendly environment with no follow-up, no catches, and no cost. One of Jesus' disciples once told his friend, just "come and see!" That's the culture of Alpha: just come and see.

WHERE JPC's Historic Church - the cute pink church in downtown Jville! (405 E California St)
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
Our church's kids program (for ages 0-5th grade) and our Middle School youth group meet at the same time as Alpha in the red Barn at our main campus (425 Middle St), so you can drop them off and head to the pink church if you'd like. Plus, everybody gets dinner at no cost. All JPC's kids and youth ministry programs follow the 'two-adults-at-all-times' safety protocol.
DO I HAVE TO REGISTER? Nope. Registering is helpful, though, for us to know how many people and meals to prepare for. We promise not to pester you with annoying emails :)

"...It’s Jesus, Joseph’s son, the one from Nazareth!” Nathanael said, “Nazareth? You’ve got to be kidding.” But Philip said, “Come, see for yourself.”
